Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130209-4214E-2147458941. Matched catalog product: Sears Sears Kenmore Elite Washer Model #11031633611. Source model text: 790-7754 3805. Incident: Sears Kenmore Elite gas range purchased in 2009 has control knobs positioned so close to oven ventilation on front, that when oven is used for less than one half hour, they got too hot to touch. This Thanksgiving we had an incident in which a grandchild burned himself ( no treatment necessary) after touching a knob. His father tried to touch the knob, and it was too hot to touch. When the oven is on for an extended cooking period, the stove knobs can only be touched by using oven gloves/pads.
