Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130222-7E590-2147458552. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Anchor Hocking Anchor Hocking 1-cup Glass Measuring Cup. Incident: I was using my Anchor Hocking 4 cup glass measuring cup to warm a mixture of sugar & water. I placed the measuring cup in the microwave for 33 seconds. I took it out of the microwave after the 33 seconds & placed the AH glass measuring cup on my countertop & as I was stirring the sugar water mixture I heard a loud crack noise. I bent down to inspect the glass measuring cup but didn't see any cracks. I continued to stir my mixture & then the whole glass measuring cup exploded. Glass flew everywhere in my kitchen as did the mixture I was stirring. I don't understand why this happened since it was only in the microwave for 33 seconds. Thank God that it didn't explode when I bent down & got really close up to the glass measuring cup because I would be blind right now. The shards of glass would have taken my eyes out.
