Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130313-BF389-2147457874. Matched catalog product: Sears Sears Kenmore Elite Washer Model #11031633611. Source model text: 79046703605. Incident: My name is [REDACTED] and I purchased a Sears Kenmore Elite Electric Range in April of 2007. The Model number is 79046703605, and the serial number NF71612736. On Wednesday, February 13, 2013 I called 911 in reference to white smoke coming out from the range as well as the smell of an electrical type fire. Neither the oven nor the cook top was on, or in use at the time. I heard a noise from the kitchen area, smelled the odor, then smoke. The Daytona Beach Fire Department responded and advised it was my oven. After, the fire department cleared the scene, I called Sears Home Repair at 1-800-4 my home. Sears advised they would not be able to send a repair contractor out until Saturday, February 16, 2013. I asked if they could get someone to respond sooner as I would be out of town that weekend at a pre scheduled conference. Sears replied that was the earliest they could send someone. I replied, that was unacceptable and I would be forced to contact another repair company. I contacted Superior Services appliance repair in Daytona Beach Florida. They sent a repairman out that afternoon on February 13th. The repairman removed the back panel where he found the parts that caught on fire. The parts were 1 fan motor part number 5304467898, relay board part number 316418101, board part number 316460900. Had I not been home at the time I could have possibly lost my pets and my home due to the this appliances internal fire. Further, I had to wait two weeks for the parts which were coming
