Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130318-2DDDA-2147457751. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Sears Sears Kenmore Elite Washer Model #11031633611. Source model text: 95823003. Incident: Sears Kenmore smooth top oven range. While cooking in the oven the broiler came on all by itself. Filled the house with smoke and burn the diner. Pressing any of the controls would not turn the broiler off. Only way to turn it off was to open the circuit breaker. When the breaker was closed the broiler came back on again. This is a fire hazard and the symptoms are almost the same as those outlined in Comsumer Product Safety Commission recall #09-333 where the surface heating elements come on by themselves. Saferproducts.gov lists many similar incidents of the broiler coming on all by itself on several Kenmore range models.
