Incident: Our 1999 Kenmore Gas Dryer poses a fire hazard because it collects lint inside the metal compartment where the gas burner is found. For the past 14 years, we have always cleaned out the lint trap inside the door to the drum of the dryer itself. However, when we had a repairman come by and repair the dryer, he opened up the metal compartment and found a huge amount of lint had collected inside the compartment which poses a serious fire hazard, since that is where the gas burner is also found. He claims that only the 1999 Kenmore Gas Dryer has this problem; other Kenmore dryers do not. There was nothing in the paperwork we received when we purchased this product that would warn us of this hazard.
