Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130528-0C925-2147455723. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Weber Spirit 310 (Gas grill). Incident: My Weber Spirit 310 grill caught on fire yesterday, 5/27/2013. It was not a grease fire. The fire was under the control knob area and the flames were coming out of the manifold area. I was able to carefully reach under, avoiding the flames and turn off the gas supply. The flames went out immediately when the gas was shut off. Fortunately, I saw the fire before it burned through the gas supply hose. The fire burned the control knobs, the ignition wiring and the gas supply hose from the gas fuel tank. I contacted Weber and they asked me to send photos, which I have done. I can send those to you as well, if you need them. I am concerned that this is a safety issue that could result in a home fire, or possibly an explosion if other consumers experience the same issue.
