Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130705-3CA55-2147454515. Matched catalog product: GE The model # is -JGBS60DEK6WW.. Source model text: Model: JVM1540DPWW. Incident: We purchased an over the counter built in GE Microwave oven and had trouble several times with the touch key pad located on the right side of the installed unit. The touch key pad was replaced last year shortly after we purchased the unit and today the Key pad was no longer properly functioning as it read "Keypad error, service may be needed." I was looking at the warranty book when to my amazement, the microwave went on all by itself! I quickly opened the door and it shut off and when i closed it there was a 1:00 on the display so i cleared it on the touch pad and left it alone and 2 minutes later it went on again all by itself. I realize that if there is nothing in the microwave that a fire can easily start and after this happened a 3rd time, again with nothing touched on the keypad AFTER it was cleared.
