Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130902-241C0-2147452467. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Apple Ipod touch 3rd gen (3rd generation Ipod touch). Incident: 3rd generation Ipod touch. Battery was running low so I attached power cable to Ipod to charge it. I checked on Ipod about 30 minutes later, the back and lower half was scolding hot. I unplugged the iPod and called Apple. Apple informed me to turn it off. I did so and after about 20 minutes the Ipod cooled down. The Ipod no longer works since incident. I informed the safety department at Apple that the Ipod as abnormally hot and had it been on paper or another flammable material, it could have become a fire hazard.
