Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140225-9CE5B-2147446914. Matched catalog product: KitchenAid KEBS207SSS04. Incident: On Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, the glass in my built-in KitchenAid oven EXPLODED, and sent pieces of glass flying out into my kitchen. At least 8 feet away. The oven was set for broil to cook vegetables that were in a [REDACTED] cooking dish, which survived intact, but was full of broken oven glass. KitchenAid wants to "repair" the oven. The glass was pulverized into small pieces and glass dust when it exploded. This is a convection oven with a fan that circulates air through the oven. It can't simply be repaired. There is glass dust throughout the oven and even in the double oven below. The glass dust will be blown back into the food being cooked.
