Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140311-9B506-1391337. Matched catalog product: GE The model # is -JGBS60DEK6WW.. Source model text: HVM1540DN1BB. Incident: This Spacemaker GE Model HVM1540DN1BB spontaneously started when no one was in the kitchen. The licensed GE repair person reseated the touchpad ribbon after determining it was not worth replacing keypad and it worked for a few weeks, then turned itself on again-this time late at night when no one was in the kitchen. It stopped when the door was left open and then when unplugged. We now keep it unplugged unless needed for use. This is a safety hazard because the cooking chamber was very hot and could have melted or caught fire if we hadn't noticed it. After finding over 100 incidents of this type regarding the GE and [REDACTED] products on line,it is surprising this appliance has not been recalled.
