Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140513-C1D2D-2147444572. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Sony NP-FX110. Source model text: NP-FX110 Battery Pack. Incident: While charging our Sony DVP-FX820 portable DVD player, the battery pack (NP-FX110) inside the battery case swelled up and split the battery case open along one side. The battery was also very hot at the time that the battery case split open. I disconnected the charger and removed the battery from the DVD player, and placed it outside the house in case it leaked or caught fire. Now that it has cooled down it remains split open and the battery pack inside remains swollen up. I cannot use the battery in this condition.
