Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140521-27ADD-1404354. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Amana AGG222VDB1 (4 burner gas range). Incident: 04/01/2013-The consumer stated that she was using the broiler for about 15 minutes when she noticed that the broiler handle was bubbled and melted. When the consumer tried to manage it, the handle fell off the broiler. Immediately, the consumer turned off the broiler. The manufacturer was contacted that month. The manufacturer scheduled a repair technician to install a new broiler handle free of charge because the range was still under warranty. About one week after, the repair technician installed a replacement broiler handle. The consumer never used the broiler again. 05/20/14- The consumer stated that she used the oven baking at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes. She did not noticed anything out of the ordinary. The next morning the consumer "brushed against" the broiler handle and the handle fell to the floor. When the consumer inspected the fallen handle, she noticed that it was bubbled and melted in the same way as in 04/2013. Also, she noticed that the oven door does not have hinges .Furthermore, the consumer is concerned that every time she uses cookware in the range's burners they slide. She is also concerned that every time she is using the oven, the surface of the outside of the oven door overheats and the surrounding granit counter gets hot to the touch. She believes that this oven does not have enough insulation to prevent the heat from emanating to the surrounding area. Immediately, the consumer contacted the manufacturer to express her concerns. 5/21/14- The consumer contacted the manufacturer and expressed her concerns regarding the missing oven door hinges. T
