Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140623-EFABD-2147443454. Matched catalog product: LG WT4801CW. Incident: LG top load high efficiency washer (model WT4801CW) in residential service for 2.5 years overflowed during the flooding the utility room. According to service technician the unit overflowed creating an electrical hazard because the "pressure switch line as off of the tub due to loose tub and stretched suspension". The tapered nipple on the tub to connect the hose of the pressure (water level) switch does not have any type of hose barb to prevent the tubing from slipping off. The excessive vibration from the imbalance causes the tubing to slide free and inactivate the level sensor. This is major design flaw and will eventually fail in all machines resulting in risk of injury to any consumer.
