Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140903-357AD-2147441253. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Husqvarna 960430034 (2 year old Husqvarna YTH 2454 lawn tractor, with a [REDACTED] 24 HP engine, model 445677, Type 0176 E1, Code 060103YG.). Incident: On August 17, 2014 I was mowing our field with our 2 year old Husqvarna YTH 2454 lawn tractor, with a [REDACTED] 24 HP engine, model 445677, Type 0176 E1, Code 060103YG. After several emails their representative, even though I suggested the fuel solenoid as the problem, told me I needed to re-build the carburetor. I went online to order [REDACTED] parts for the engine and discovered that the fuel solenoid had been discontinued and was no longer available. I again spoke to the mechanic and he said he thought it was strange a part like that on a 2 year old engine, was no longer available without a safety recall. The mechanic ordered the new replacement fuel solenoid and I after the solenoid and drained the fuel from the crankcase, the engine runs fine. That amount of fuel leaking through the hot exhaust and muffler is a dangerous situation. It could easily resulted in a fire. [REDACTED] n knows of this problem because it has discontinued the pr
