Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150109-D17F5-2147436734. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Panasonic NN-SD967S (Panasonic Microwave Oven NN-SD967S.). Incident: I own two Panasonic NN-SD967S Microwave ovens for a few years. Recently one of them broken down. When I opened up the oven, I observed that the wires from one connector is burned. It must be due to overheat on the connector. I took out the connector to examine. It is badly burned up. I was surprised, if the wires is not burned to the point that got it disconnected, it can cause fire. I opened the other microwave oven of the same model, it is obvious that the same connector also got overheated, as the while wires that connected to it has turned black, although it is not disconnected. The product is listed as consuming 1250W and the label on the unit says the input is 12.7A. However, when I measured both units, they took over 1900W and over 16.7 A. I have pictures that can be included for investigation.
