Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150211-82F7A-2147435494. Severity: Unspecified. Matched catalog product: Sony NP-FX110. Incident: The lithium ion rechargeable battery pack (Sony model # NP-FX110) on my children's portable DVD player (Sony model # DVP-FX930) spontaneously expanded in the case breaking the battery pack. This occurred during or after normal use, in normal temperature, without any warning. There were no injuries, however this appears to be a significant safety concern for the battery leaking or exploding, since the defect compromised the case. I have noticed that there are multiple other reports of the same defect for this battery on SaferProducts.gov.
