Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150327-A5531-2147434182. Severity: Unspecified. Matched catalog product: KitchenAid KITCHENAID KUDS30IXSS4. Source model text: KUDROITJHWO. Incident: Shortly after starting my Kitchenaid Dishwasher I hear a loud popping noise, about 5 times. Went to the kitchen and saw flames shooting out of the dishwasher. Have a separate switch that allowed me to cut power to the unit. Black smoke and a nasty odor permeated the house. Needed to open the windows for several hours on a chilly day. Also have to get the water out of the dead dishwasher.
