Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150428-F913D-2147433372. Severity: Injury, Level of care not known. Product: Lenovo Thinkpad T430s (Lenovo Thinkpad laptop T430s original battery charger cord). Incident: On two-three separate occasions, my 16 year old daughter and I noticed that my computer battery charger cord was sparking when we plugged it in. Then the last time I used it, it explosively sparked and actually almost burned my hand -- leaving gray marks on my hand. I called the computer company, Lenovo, after I went online and saw that they actually had a large number of recalls of charger cords for this very reason. But Lenovo told me that my particular cord was not subject to the recall, and out of warranty, since I purchased it about two years ago. [REDACTED] at Lenovo in warranty support informed me of this on 4/20/15. I suggested that my computer's cord should also be subject to recall as it seemed to have the same problem as the others, but that suggestion went nowhere. My laptop computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad T430s. Thank you!! Best regards, [REDACTED]
