Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150506-1B7F7-2147433184. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Lenovo 2191 (Lenovo ideapad yoga 13 laptop/ultrabook, silver grey, i5 3337/4G Ram/128G SSD/13.3-inch.). Incident: I bought a Lenovo idea pad yoga 13 in August 2013 at amazon Japan. On Apr 24 this year, the laptop was suddenly turned off when I was using it, and no response by clicking any keys, no light is on. I felt it's pretty hot, and the smell was like burning. So I decided to get rid off the keyboard to cool it. After I disassembled the keyboard and the plate above the main board (It's very easy to achieve that), one black chip was on fire!!! The mainboard was burnt!!! It's too dangerous, I can't imagine the main board will be on fire when I have cut off the power. If no person is around the laptop, I think the office will be burnt out. The worse is that Lenovo China refused to replace the bad product for free. The only reason is this product is bought from Japan, and there is only one year warranty for the laptop. I am very disappointed about that. I heard that the potential burning thinkpad battery can be recalled, but my burnt main board can not be replaced. I know the same model of lenovo yoga is also sold in USA, hopefully it's only a single incident.
