Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150603-E2CF7-2147432368. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Sears Sears Kenmore Elite Washer Model #11031633611. Incident: It was 10pm. My husband goes out to the kitchen for a drink only to find our microwave is on by itself, sparking and flaming. He quickly unplugged it and was able to put out. No one had used it for it to be running. Had he not woke up and went for a drink we would have lost everything. There was NOTHING in the microwave for it to even spark. I had noticed when cleaning it a week ago that the top part was bubbling and some paint was missing. Which worried me to start. We had not been using because of that issue but it was still plugged in. Very strange to say the least!
