Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150610-0237E-2147431208. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Masterbuilt 20072612. Incident: I used my Masterbuilt Electric Smoker Model #20072612 for the first time. I loaded the wood chips into the chamber, inserted it into the smoker as directed and turned to drop them. A few minutes later I smelled fire. I looked and the inside of my smoker where the chamber was caught on fire. The smoker was smoking and shaking. I immediately turned off the smoker, unplugged the smoker, and put out the fire. It appears that the interior of this smoker is defective and the smoker chips did not drop where they should off but instead dropped on the burners and caught fire. I will never use this smoker again although it is almost new. I was traumatized by this incident.
