SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150718-0C742-2147430170. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: Cub Cadet Lawn Tractor Cub Cadet Hydrostatic Lawn Tractor LTX 1045. Incident: Before staring my tractor I opened up the air cleaner and checked under the hood for any nests or any other foreign material. My Cub Cadet Lawn Tractor model LTX 1045 was purchased new in 2009' I was running the tractor when I smelled and saw black and white oily smoke coming from the left front in the area of the carburetor. Next I saw burst of flame. I stopped the tractor and lifted the hood. Fire burst around the plastic air cleaner assembly on the carburetor. Everything was starting to melt so I moved a safe distance away in case of an explosion as the gas began feeding the flames through a melted hose. Soon the entire tractor was engulfed in flames and burned to the ground. I live in a rural area and did not have a cell phone with me so no help arrived.
