Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150903-5A4EB-2147428744. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Whirlpool Model #wrf767sdhz 26.8 cu ft 3 door French door re. Source model text: WDF530PLYW5. Incident: Normal load of dishes. At approximately the end of wash cycle, black smoke started coming from steam vent. The smoke smelled like an electrical fire. I was able to turn off circuit at fuse box before fire burned beyond the interior of the front door of the dishwasher. Before turning off power, I could hear electrical arcing inside the front panel. Had I not been standing next to the dishwasher when this began, I expect that the fire would have continued.
