Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20151106-CB669-2147426935. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Matched catalog product: Kenmore 795.77563600. Incident: My Sears Kenmore Elite Refrigerator, model # 795.77563600 is a fire hazard and after reading online this is a widespread issue and one Sears is not standing behind. What happens is the lights inside the unit remain on even when the doors of the refrigerator are closed. They heat up and start to melt the plastic cover, ruin the food, and are even hot enough to melt the insulated protection over the lights. There is a distinct burning smell and even smoke was coming from the light fixture itself when I opened the doors. It is so hot it was a matter of time before I lost all my food and the unit caught fire.
