Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160111-A7B40-2147424858. Matched catalog product: Cuisinart TOB-40. Source model text: TOB-40, 11CE123592. Incident: Four years ago we purchased a Cuisinart TOB-40 toaster. Within 11 months, both heating elements had bent severely and cracked open - revealing the inner core. We received a replacement under warranty. Recently, I noticed that the rear element on the replacement has also bent and cracked open, this time the element is pressing down on the removable crumb tray and the split is facing the tray. I am concerned that this could result in energization of the tray - a major problem, since the device is not grounded.
