Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160208-8D0AA-1553962. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Maytag MEDB835DW (Washer). Incident: This caller is reporting her washer purchased from Lowe's in Alabama November 21st, 2015. She had problems the second week of ownership and she scheduled repair with F&S Appliance but then cancelled the appointment because it seemed that the problem had repaired itself. Two days afterward the problem began again and she rescheduled the appointment January 11th, 2016. Repair tech came to her home January 27th, 2016 and diagnosed that the washer needed to be replaced because the ball joints were defective and causing some burning odor and the unit was still on warranty. The caller contacted the retailer, she repeated the directions that the service technician provided but she was informed by [REDACTED], the store floor manager that another tech was going to be scheduled to look at her washer. She told him that having her washer is a necessity due to her being her Cancer fighting husband care giver and asked how she would wash their clothes and bed linens but [REDACTED], the store manager informed her to go to a neighbor's home or a coin pay laundry location. She left the store, calmed down and called the store the following morning, at which time she was able to speak with [REDACTED] , the store manager who has sent a loaner washer to her home. When the delivery persons removed the washer purchased November 21st, 2015 they noted that her carpet was burned beneath it although she had only been able to use the washer three times. She is reporting this washer as a fire hazard and is asking that it become recalled and the public made aware of the hazard. There are no injuries bei
