Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160505-6D3AA-2147419759. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kidde FA110G. Source model text: FA110. Incident: While splitting wood with my log splitter last fall, the engine caught on fire due to a mouse nest buried underneath. I grabbed my Kidde FA110 fire extinguisher, pulled the safety pin, compressed the handle, and nothing came out. The gauge said it was fully charged. By the time I was able to extinguish the fire, the top end of the log splitter had melted. There was approximately $100 in damage. I contacted Kidde regarding the matter, and was contact back by [REDACTED]of their Product Support team. [REDACTED] logged the incident, and told me they would send me a replacement extinguisher and reimburse me for the repair cost. I received the replacement extinguisher, and sent the faulty one back, but after several inquiries, I have not received the reimbursement. I sent photos of the damage and receipts as documentation.
