Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160506-65517-2147419732. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Rival wK8283cuy. Source model text: Rival / WK8283CUY. Incident: My electric water heater did not function properly about a week or two ago. I plugged it in, filled the water pitcher, turned on the button and heard a small pop and felt a shock. I thought this "shock" to be static electricity, but did not realize that it was not heating. After a few minutes i realized "no heated water", so i turned the button to OFF and then turned back to ON again and it worked. I didn't think twice about this until i saw this "recall" notice. I was not seriously harmed, but the electric sting and the pop sound let me know there is a problem.
