SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160607-8EA22-2147417981. Severity: Unspecified. Matched catalog product: Rheem Performance Platinum Electric Water Heater - XE80T12EC55U0. Incident: A breaker in my house blew out. When we reset the breaker, there was a loud boom and a flash of light at the water heater in the garage next to the electric panel. One light and a tv blew out. We opened the slated door where the water heater is and there was smoke rising from the top of the water heater. There was an acrid smell like burning rubber and there was a char mark on the walls behind and above the water heater.
