Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160707-D7A3B-2147417154. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Ryobi P2000 (Ryobi P2000 12" String Trimmer/Edger - Blue and Black and Silver with some Yellow-Orange.). Incident: Ryobi Model: P2000 12" String Trimmer/Edger Serial Number: BML 0631341 I have a Ryobi P2000 12" String Trimmer. It was purchased at Home Depot on 05/31/2008 so I have gotten good life out of it but recently my grandson was trimming for me and discovered a serious problem. He used 2 batteries to get through the trimming job. The 2nd one got very hot and melted the plastic surrounding the positive contact and then he inspected the 1st battery he used and found that it was slightly melted at the positive contact. The positive contact inside the socket of the Trimmer was brown and the negative was normal silver color. I want to let someone know about this so that nobody gets hurt by the overheating. I can't find out on the Home Depot site anyone to contact and no links on the Ryobitools site really relate to reporting incidents like this. I have stopped using those two batteries, my P2000 Trimmer, and my P125 6 port charger.
