Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160819-458F9-1588897. Matched catalog product: Google Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold GA09899-US. Incident: The market for USB Type-C (also known as USB 3.1 Type-C) chargers and cables are having significant inconsistencies between cell phones/smart phones (devices) and not following the specifications established by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF). Examples of manufacturers doing this are LG and [REDACTED] and they have not taken any steps to address this. Consumers are not readily aware of this practice and may plug their device into a charger that is non-compliant because the charging connector is the same as one that is compliant. What this is causing is a significant risk of shock, fire or injury due to the battery exploding due to these non-compliant chargers or cables sending more power than the device needs.
