Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20161008-CE197-2147412214. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kenmore Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel Model 790.xxxx. Source model text: Kenmore Elite Electric Range Model #7909413310. Incident: My stove cook top cracked in February, 2016 due to overheating oven. Cook top replaced and nothing further by Sears. October 3, 2016 while I was baking some biscuits my electric panel on my cook top started shooting out electric sparks and was on fire. Lots of smoke, flames and sparks but thankfully we are okay and thanks to my dad installing a fire panel behind the stove my home didn't catch fire. Stove purchased April, 2015 so no warranty. Just paid off last month over $600 now we are faced with buying another stove. This is a major safety issue and we don't want anyone losing their home or life due to this issue. Neither Sears nor Kenmore are willing to do anything about it.
