Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20161024-DD1AB-2147411729. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Whirlpool Model No: WMC30516HB 0. Incident: I purchased Whirlpool gas range, Model WFG540HES0 Serial R54339104, a 5 burner slide in range last Dec. I began noticing gas odor occasionally. I called Whirlpool today,10-24-16. to report that the 2 center knobs could be opened to allow gas to escape without pushing the knob in which is normally the function for turning the stove on. These 2 knobs could be move by a brush against the stove, a light touch, which allowed gas to escape. Which to me is a safety issue as this could be done as one passed and did not notice the gas. Why would only 2 of the knobs not work properly? I called Whirlpool and the response was that there was no recall and that the issue I outlined was normal. I do not think that is correct; I see this as a safety issue.
