Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20161127-382BE-2147410362. Matched catalog product: Mr. Coffee 14-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker BVMC-PC14BL2. Source model text: Mr. Coffee Tea Cafe Iced Tea Maker, Black, BVMC-TM33. Incident: This unit developed a defect. It worked fine for about 9 months. Now the heating element in the unit does not shut off when the water reservoir empties allowing the heating unit to continue to run. Started to smell burning plastic smell. Likely a fire would have occurred had I not unplugged the unit.
