Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20161219-69B9E-2147409135. Severity: Unspecified. Matched catalog product: LG LDG4315st. Incident: Knobs for the range on brand new LG do not work properly; the safety lock only works if you're turning them from the top (safety lock requiring you to depress the knobs). From the sides of the knobs, ie the front of the range, they will turn with trivial contact. Several times I've come into the kitchen to find it smelling of gas, and the oven hasn't even been in for a month. Today, something was actually lit on fire, causing thousands in damage to my kitchen - which I literally just had redone (floors were put in 2 weeks ago, cabinets were just finished installed yesterday, etc). The casual contact with the knobs occurs when someone is using the over-the-range microwave directly above the range, like many decent kitchens have.
