Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170124-DE133-2147407706. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Whirlpool WMH53520CS - 2 (Whirlpool Microwave, model # WMH53520CS - 2 Serial # TR51733229 Manufactured: April 2015 Purchased through Home Depot in the summer of 2015 Color: Stainless Steel and Black). Incident: Our Whirlpool Microwave was arcing/sparking and we were told today by a repairman that it was a factory defect and is dangerous to continue using. It needs to be replaced. This is the same model that has already been recalled by Whirlpool. It is model # WMH53520CS. However, our serial number is not part of the current recall. Our unit was manufactured in April 2015 and purchased at home depot in the summer of 2015. Our unit's serial number is TR51733229. I believe this recall should be expanded to include all units under this model number due to serious fire and safety concerns. We also paid a repairman $95 to inform us of the cause of this issue and hope that government regulations can require Whirlpool to cover and reimburse those costs paid by the consumer in relation to these units. Thank you.
