Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170130-4468A-2147407512. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Whirlpool MMW7530WDW01 (Whirlpool micro/wall oven combo unit model# mmw7530wdw01. 30" wide. white in color). Incident: We purchased a Whirlpool micro/oven wall unit 10/2011 to complete a kitchen remodel. Model mmw7530wdw01. The baking oven was used very little. Upon selecting the oven clean mode and walking away....suddenly, minutes later the outer oven door glass exploded. This occurred 8/8/16. I've tried unsuccessfully to locate a replacement part for this $2300.00 boat anchor I currently have sitting in my garage to no avail and now I recently found out they no longer supply the part that I had ordered. At first I was told that the Whirlpool warehouse was out of stock and that the projected delivery date was 10/13/16; I called the parts dealer and was then told to expect it around 12/31/16. Again, I called back after Jan.1 and was told that the part was no longer available? I am currently waiting on a refund from the parts dealer. After numerous checks online, I see that every other part for this unit is available along with a glass replacement for a unit that came in black and in stainless steel but No glass is available for the micro/oven they manufactured in white! Not only will I boycott ALL Whirlpool appliances but I am currently speaking with an attorney that is willing to file a class action regarding their defective product as soon as a list of possible plaintiffs is complied. I think that it is utterly ridiculous that a company as large as Whirlpool can suspend parts that have had a problem with breakage throughout the country and I'm sure abroad and have not been required to have a recall on these defective items or at least make the replacement/repair part available. Thank You
