Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170322-732A3-2147404988. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Amana Amana 30 inch Electric Range. Incident: While using my oven to cook potatoes, the area of below the oven floor where you can see flames through what look like vent holes caught fire.. After the oven fire was put out and cooled off, MY husband was able to lift up the over floor plate. HE said it looked like the heating element overheated and caught fire. MY husband said there was melted plastic wiring. We have never used anything, but glass and metal baking pans in our oven. The oven is less than 2 years old and shouldn't have done this. OUr home could've burned down if we hadn't been able to put out the fire. Something needs to be done. This oven is unsafe! Amana Stove and their other products should be recalled befor they kill someone.
