Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170410-5BB1A-2147404535. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: HP g6-2224nr (HP Laptop Computer). Incident: My HP computer was plugged in and charging on my end table in living room whkls watching a show and the computer keyboard suddenly had flames coming out. Attempts were made to blow out the flames and kept restarting. Then suddenly the computer started to explode. It was like bottle rockets coming from the computer. Several small fires started in my house before we were able to get close enough to dump computer in bucket and cover with blanket to block projectiles from hitting us. Once computer was outside for about 10 minutes it kept shooting off projectiles which I found afterwards was the individual battery cells. Had to use fire extinguisher to put out the couple of fires in house. Sustained damage to carpet, and walls lamp and end table. I am in public safety as my occupation and never seen such a thing. Still have the computer and what's left of battery pack. Website form would not allow upload of photos. I have photos of the computer and the damage to house.
