Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170711-9E428-2147399049. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Matched catalog product: Kenmore 665.13543N412. Source model text: 665.16049403. Incident: My Kenmore dishwasher filled my house with smoke from the dishwasher. Upon checking the dishwasher after I turned it off and the smoke cleared. I look in the dishwasher on the element to see if something had melted on there. There was not anything. I looked under the dishwasher and pieces of the bottom of the dishwasher coating maybe had melted or caught on fire and when I looked further there were some really hard crispy pieces of this rubber coating falling off on the floor. I am not sure what caused it to catch fire but I am afraid to use the dishwasher because the smoke was very toxic smelling. I will call for a repair but I am not sure that it is something that can be repaired.
