Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170801-07E07-2147398520. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Whirlpool WFG320M0BB0 (Whirlpool Range Gas Black 1.5). Incident: Potential Fire Hazzard The whirlpool range gas stove, the knobs turn on very easily, if I reached over the stove, walk by or mistakenly touch the knobs. The knobs touched lightly turned the gas on and I have to turn it off. The knobs touched slightly turns on without the gas unknowingly, caused leaked gas and explosion. I don't usually have breakfast, decided to get breakfast, turned on the stove and a very loud band. All I saw was fire completely covered the area where the gas leaked over the entire stove. I was thrown back from shock after the fire cleared. I looked at the knobs and saw that the knob on the right end of the stove was slight turned on, which apparently leaked gas from an unknown time. I complained to Master's Limited in Bermuda, where I purchased the stove only 5 months old under warranty, to no avail. The Manager suggest it's not a defective under warranty, I disagree. This is a potential fire hazard, I could be dead today had the leaked continued without knowledge and who would have known it was a gas leak? The knobs have no safety mechanism to prevent turning on. What will happen, if a child mistaken touch the knobs? The results fire or unknown gas leak and an explosion. How do you prevent this from happening in a resident home, it's not possible. Kindly consider product recall, design a safety knob to prevent easily turning on or there's serious risk for fire and explosions from this unsafe product. Kind regards.
