Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170818-05207-2147398037. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LRE3061BD. Incident: I have an LG Electric Range LRE3061BD that has a handle on the oven door that gets extremely hot when the oven in on for an extended period of time (approximately 1 hours), worse when baking at higher temperatures. You can not touch the handle without a towel or mitt. There is a vent at the back of the cook top for the oven, but it feels as if the heat is coming out the front of the oven door. The space gets so hot, it will heat up our entire kitchen, dining and LR area. I have seen it cause the temperature to rise on our home thermostat 2 degrees. I have reported this to LG Customer Service, once last year in July 2016 when I bought the stove and again this past week. They state it is okay for the outside of the oven to reach 180 degrees. As a consumer, parent and nurse practitioner in a pediatric practice, I feel this creates a significant burn and injury hazard for children and adults.
