Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20170925-72BC1-2147397212. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Model Number- RF18HFENBSR US. Source model text: ME18H704SFS. Incident: I purchased a Samsung Microwave. The microwave was delivered and installed in July 2017. About a week or so ago, I woke up one morning and noticed this discoloration on the front of the microwave. I attempted to clean with [REDACTED] and realized it was a permanent discoloration. I opened the microwave door and noticed the interior door had an oval side burn hole at the bottom and a couple of inches above it the rack showed evidence of being burnt too. --- I have had a [REDACTED] Microwave in the same location for going on 20 years with no problem. I know what you can put in the microwave and what you cannot. I use the microwave exclusively to heat up water for tea in the morning, [REDACTED] microwaveable breakfast, [REDACTED], bake potatoes and reheat leftovers in microwave safe dishes, ---- There is no plausible explanation to explain why this microwave caught on fire.
