Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20171016-35A2E-2147396732. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LDE4413ST. Incident: This LG electric range has controls that, when accidentally bumped, turn on the stove top heating elements. I have noticed on a few occasions the heating element was on after my wife or a guest have brushed up against the knobs and was able to catch it quickly. Recently I was not so lucky, my wife brushed up against one of the knobs prior to taking my dog for a walk and came back to my house filled with smoke. On top of my stove was a bag of cheese that melted and the smoke carried the oils from the cheese to my ceiling that has to be professionally replaced. I highly recommend not buying this stove. I have had other stoves with knobs in front and have never had this issue. The product has a flawed design and needs immediate correction. I can't imagine having a stove like this with young children in my home. My wife has removed knobs to avoid incidental contact.
