Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20171025-9DE14-2147396475. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire FGBD2438PF6A (Frigidaire Dishwasher approximately two (2) years old.). Incident: Approximately 9 pm, on October 23rd, we noticed a burning smell coming from the kitchen. We quickly went to see what was potentially on fire. After going into the kitchen, we could see light smoke coming from around the dishwasher. We turned it off, and opened the door. Upon inspection, the heating element inside of the dishwasher had apparently overheated and warped down touching and burning the plastic tub. Their was still some water present in the on the surface of the tub. Had there not been, by the look of the plastic, it could have ignited the plastic tub risking the loss of our property and potential life. After a brief search online, It appears that this is a known problem with similar models. After Inspecting the product, and for consumer safety and protection, it needs to be reviewed and recalled. The potential risk to property and life merits a review of this product and the dangers associated with it. I have notified the manufacture of this risk, and will document my reporting this incident.
