Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20171128-DEFF7-2147395005. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: HP HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC. The product number is G4X63UA#A (The product is the HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC. The product number is G4X63UA#ABA. The serial number is 5CD41412MB. My battery number is 6DGAHN5GW6G8K3.). Incident: I had had difficulty with the lithium ion battery in my HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC. The product number is G4X63UA#ABA. The serial number is 5CD41412MB. I have had this laptop for a couple years now. Off and on for years my battery has overheated, which has caused a burn hazard. If it is in contact with someone's skin, it is so hot it could cause a burn. I saw that HP recalled some batteries last year and checked to see if mine was on the list. I was surprised it was not. My computer has been overheating a lot lately due to the battery. I checked HP's website and saw that they updated the recall. Again, I thought my battery would be listed and it was not. It gave the option to report an unsafe product. I do not think that this product is safe. It has been a continuous issue. My battery number is 6DGAHN5GW6G8K3. Although they has not been a permanent injury, no one in my family holds the laptop or puts it on their lap due to the intense heat. The battery will overheat and shut the computer off. I do not think this is safe.
