Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180213-0EF77-2147392947. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: GE JES1460DS2BB (GE 1.4 cu ft Countertop Microwave Oven (Black)). Incident: My GE microwave oven has started to self-start periodically throughout the day, and very randomly. The microwave is less than 3 years old. It has been flickering off and on by itself for 3-4 weeks now. It sometimes self-starts for 1 min, then off for 1 min, then back on again for 1 min, then off again, and will keep going off and on, or sometimes if it starts running by itself it won't stop, even if pushing buttons, unless it gets unplugged. This is unacceptable and a clear malfunction in the product, especially considering it is not even 3 years old. It could cause a fire for sure which scares me but I cannot afford another microwave and don't feel I should have to. It should be fixed by the manufacturer. Before I knew it could cause a fire, it had been plugged in still overnight. I am lucky that me and my 4 kids have not lost our home or our lives. This is not right. I cannot list 1 incident date since it self-starts daily and very randomly so I will just use today's date since it is still going on. Thanks, Liana
