Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180217-CF328-2147392837. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Matched catalog product: Apple iPhone 7. Source model text: iPhone 7 Plus. Incident: My daughter plugged her iPhone cord into her iPhone7 Plus to charge. After 20 minutes of charging, she went to unplug her phone and the connector and cord at the phone sparked, got hot, burned her finger and had a small flame. After unplugging the phone from the cord the cord was still smoldering. At which point she unplugged the outlet strip from the wall. Her apple charger was plugged into the outlet strip. We went to the Apple store with the phone, charger and cord. They ran a test on the phone and said the phone is not defective and would not replace it. We elected to escalate the issue with Apple Corporate and are waiting for their response.
