Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180415-4D8CA-2147388597. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Traeger pellet grills TFB29LZB (Traeger 20 elite junior pellet grill). Incident: I followed instructions for assembly and use of this pellet grill exactly. The product did not function properly so I spent 2 days with 3 different customer service representatives following their instructions for trouble shooting. In the process of trouble shooting and under guidance from customer service, this grill caught fire, getting hot enough (on a temp setting of 225) to melt the coating on the outside of the grill. (I have pictures of the damage that I can provide if needed). I contacted customer service again and they refused to replace the product and insisted that they would help me to diagnose and fix the product. Initially the agent did not even notify/consult a supervisor about the fire incident. I am not comfortable with this and I am concerned that this product is a fire hazard (and also possibly chemical contamination of food). I felt it is my responsibility to report this incident as I have seen mention of fires on online reviews as well. Thank you, [REDACTED]
