Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180430-8A6EA-2147388287. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: GE The model # is -JGBS60DEK6WW.. Source model text: JS750DF3BB. Incident: The stove design includes burner knobs which are above the level of the cooking surface. This has resulted in the burner(s) being turned on accidentally when setting something on the stove surface. It has happened numerous times. Melting or catching on fire has resulted. Looking at other stoves on the market they all seem to keep the knob profile below surface level. The knob needs to be depressed before turning but that is exactly what happens when something is set on it. The knob is then easily spun to on, by the weight of the object. The model is GE JS750DF3BB
